Prelude
In what seems to be only a few bats of my eyelashes, roughly four years of my teaching career have breezed right by. And I'm happy to report that in that timeframe, I've budded from the naive girl who didn't know the first thing about lesson planning into a semi-confident college professor of literature and composition. Well, that's all and good, and maybe I'll remember to give myself a pat on the back sometime...doubtful, though. But, frustratingly and ironically enough, I find myself, at this particular juncture, less organized than ever in my teaching philosophies and strategies. I wouldn't say that my lack of organization stems from a laisses-faire attitude by any stretch. Neither does it boil down to anything as base as ignorance or haughtiness (because goodness knows that teaching is a constant work in progress, and I don't see myself reaching the end of my rope anytime soon). Frankly, I adore what I do, and I'm above and beyond fortunate to be on the career path that I'm currently walking--not too shabby for a 25 year old, I'd say. So, in hopes of rejuvenating my practice for myself and my students-to-come, I've opted to create this here little blog. May it serve as a melting pot of resources and reflections to better organize my stay across the curriculum...
